Well,
you've got to hand it to the bookers who gave Willie Farkis (aka
Farquas) this gimmick. A native of Hungary who came to North America
for a career in soccer, Willie ended up as a wrestler instead.
But instead of giving him a stereotypical "foreigner"
gimmick, given his accent and look, they gave him a werewolf gimmick
Yep, Willie
here was raised by wolves, and came out like a stone age Bruiser
Brody. He competed in the WWWF for a while, and used a hanging
neckbreaker as his finisher. He liked to bite his opponents, too.
One interesting
tidbit. During the '70s a talk-show host named Mike Davis held
a wrestling match on his tv show. He teamed with comedy king Jerry
Lewis against two mystery wrestlers. The wrestlers turned out
to be Andre The Giant and The Wolfman. |
