WHY do promoters insist on doing music-based gimmicks? Name more than FIVE that have worked.

Just like religious gimmicks and monster gimmicks, the musician/wrestler is a well gone to one too many times. To make matters worse, this time they created a rock star wrestler to feud with another rock star wrestler!

J.T. Southern, well-known for his stints in the AWA and on the indie circuit was brought into WCW to feud with Van Hammer. His gimmick? Well, he was a guitar player who contested Hammer's skills. So, instead of actually just playing the damned guitars to see who was better, they fought in the ring over it.

And, as you can see, Southern "played" his guitar to the ring, just like Hammer. It was just as "impressive."

Southern didn't last long, and was soon back on the indie circuit. But really, would you want to stick around long enough for people to remember you as a Van Hammer wannabe??
