Ah,
yes...good ol' Hervena...
Though nowhere near
the level of the WWF Heavyweight Title, the WWF Womens Title has had
its own fair share of top-name athletes. Wendi Ricther. Alundra (Madusa)
Blayze. Lita. But Hervina was not one of them.
 |
In
case you've never heard of Hervina before, here's a little bit
of backstory: On the January 31, 2000 episode of Raw, a "snow
bunny lumberjill" match was held, where several of the WWF's
female stars competed to win the belt, then held by The Kat (Stacey
Carter). During the match, a mysterious wrestler debuted, and
took advantage of Jacquelyn knocking out Kat. Pinning the downed
champion, the newcomer was crowned the new WWF Womens Champion.
But there was something familiar about her. The bodyframe. The
size. The five o'clock shadow...
Yep, the new
champ was none other than Harvey Wippleman in drag! And Vince
Russo wasn't even with the WWF anymore!
|
Luckily, Jacquelyn
defeated the cross-dressing manager the following night to take the title.
After that, the womens title enjoyed a resurgance, as "real"
wrestlers like Lita, Jackie and Ivory competed over it, as opposed to
the Kat/Terri matches that had gone on before. It would remain a fairly
prominent title until it was won/taken over by Chyna. Return
