When one thinks of Wrestlemania, many images can come to the mind....Hogan slamming Andre...Austin winning his first World belt...Warrior Vs. Hogan. But one of the most least-talked about matches in WM history was, in fact, the FIRST match in WM history. And it featured Tito Santana against...The Executioner???

WHO???

The Executioner, no connection to the tag team before him comprised of Killer Kowalski and Big John Studd, or the Executioner played by Terry Gordy years later, this Executioner was none other than "Playboy" Buddy Rose. Rose, still a few years away from needing the Blowaway Diet, actually holds the honor of opening up the biggest annual show in the sport's history.

But, why was he stuck under a mask? After all, he was a big name in some regions. Well, no one's for certain. One theory has it that there were plans for Rose in the WWF, and though they wanted him for the show, they didn't want to kill his heat immediately by having him job in his first match. Thus, he was put under an (ill-fitting) hood and sent out.

Is this for real? Who knows. All I do know is that is one of the worst identity-concealing masks since Chainsaw Charlie...well, before Charlie, but you get the point.
