John Richner, like many wrestlers, didn't have
much luck with his first few gimmicks. Rock had Flex Kavana. HHH had
Terra Ryzing. And Richner had...well, Richner had a few. He started
out in the indies as Abudah Singh, a madman of the Sheik/Abdullah variety.
Later on, he worked in the WWF for a month as Xanta Claus. But between
the two, he was Smokey Mountain Wrestling's very own lovable lunatic,
Boo Bradley.

Originally brought in by Tammy (Sunny) Fytch to replace Brian Lee in tagging with Chris Candido, Boo was a George Steele/Norman The Lunatic gimmick from the start. Large, lovable and misguided. Eventually, Tammy took to bringing Boo to the ring with a chain around a neck. Finally, like all berated madmen, Boo broke free of his master, and became a face. Not that it helped much, but it was still better than what was to come in McMahonland. |
These days, Richner has made a name for himself in ECW as Balls Mahoney. He's still a lovable lunatic, but of a somewhat more intelligent (?) level. At least he doesn't tell his fans to eat their peas anymore.
