Babyface managers are a rare thing. While valets
are found by the dozen, it's pretty hard to come across an honest-to-goodness
face manager. During the late 80's, the WWF actually had two, Bam Bam
Bigelow's manager Sir Oliver Humperdink, and this guy, The Baron.

When
The Powers of Pain defected from Crockett's NWA promotion to the
WWF they showed up with a strange hooded manager. He kept his
face hidden, he talked in a very harsh voice and he just looked
all-out sinister. In the days of Hulkamania and Warrior, a guy
this dark being one of the good guys just seemed strange. Perhaps
that's the reason he didn't last long.
In reality,
The Baron was none other than Baron Von Raschke, who, along with
the Powers, was a member of Paul Jones's Army in the NWA. A longtime
veteran, Rashcke was brought in as the mouthpiece for the Road
Warrior clones, as neither had anything resembling mic skills.
He didn't last very long, and was gone within a few months. The
Powers of Pain lasted a little while as manager-less faces before
turning heel and joining Mr. Fuji. |
The Baron, in the
meantime, went to the AWA, where he stayed until the promotion died.
