JANUARY, FEBRUARY, and MARCH
• Togo The Great & Tokyo Joe win North American tag titles from Rufus & Geigel in KC. Title is renamed NWA World Tag Team Championship (3-8)
• Harley Race stuns Central States fans by winning the NWA World Title from Dory Funk Jr. in a televised bout from KC's Memorial Hall (3-24)

APRIL, MAY, and JUNE
• Bulldog Bob Brown returns to the Central States area
• Rufus & Geigel regain tag titles from Togo & Tokyo, the Japanese duo regain the titles shortly
• Danny Littlebear wins CS title from Nature Boy Kirby (4-27)
• Brown wins CS title from Littlebear (June)
• Wrestling moves from Memorial Hall to Municipal Auditorium for June 30th's Super Bowl Spectacular. The card is headlined by Race defending the NWA title against Dory Funk Jr., Togo & Tokyo Joe defending the World Tag Titles against Rufus R Jones & Bobo Brazil, Bob Brown vs Bob Geigel in a Texas Death match, and The Sheik vs. Black Angus.
• Harley Race makes a May-June tour defending his NWA World Title. Results include victories over Danny Littlebear (St Joe on 5-25, Des Moines on 6-6, Des Moines on 6-20), Bobo Brazil (KC, 6-7), and a 1 hour draw vs. Dory Funk Jr. (KC, 6-30)

• St. Joseph native Mike George makes his wrestling debut
• Baron Sicluna enters the area for a short run. He primarily wrestles mid card matches and occasionally teams with Baron Von Raschke.

OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, and DECEMBER
Brown regains CS title from Race in KC (10-11)
Al Hayes enters the area and begins his snobbish Lord Alfred Hayes gimmick. Hayes quickly aligns himself with Nature Boy Kirby. Hayes & Kirby attack Kirby's former partner, now enemy Black Angus after Angus defeats Kirby in a cage match.
Young newcomers Jim Brunzell & Mike George (billed as the 1973 NWA Rookie Of The Year) win . the tag titles from Togo & Tokyo
Man Mountain Mike makes a short tour
